The RSOBHD Assemble & Leap project will deliver a series of Highland Dancing taster workshops in Primary Schools to encourage participation in Highland Dancing.
The pilot phase of the project will launch in April 2024 and will target Primary schools in Aberdeenshire, Fife and West Dunbartonshire.
The project will deliver 45 minute taster workshops within class time or after school, depending on the needs and preferences of the school. A workshop pack will be provided to all instructors with visual content (video and photographs) and a lesson guide to ensure consistency.
We are looking for up to 6 instructors in each area (18 in total) who can work with the project team to create the programme and deliver workshops in schools in their local area.
Instructors should be aged between 18 and 30 and either resident or working for local authorities in Aberdeenshire, Fife or West Dunbartonshire. We will also consider applicants from neighbouring areas/authorities (eg. Greater Glasgow) provided they meet the criteria. Instructors must be an Associate Member or Member of at least one of the Examining Bodies, and will be required to be a member of the Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme. All instructors will be required to sign up to and abide by the RSOBHD Code of Conduct and Assemble & Leap Project Child Protection Policy.
The first phase of the programme is expected to run between April and July 2024, with the possibility of an extension into the 2024/25 school year. The pilot phase will be evaluated and if successful phase 2 will involve a wider rollout across other areas of Scotland.
Instructors for phase 1 will receive an honorarium for each workshop taught.
