Argentine Tango Intensive Workshop

1.            ARGENTINE TANGO VALS BRONZE LEVEL OVERVIEW

This 3hr teacher’s workshop is aimed at giving an in-depth instructions on the foundation, technique and figures of the Argentine Tango Vals. It will give the participants enough knowledge and skill set to be able to  teach the dance at Bronze level. This workshop is suitable for teacher training for the  Associate level in Argentine Tango.

Objective

i.              To gain an in-depth knowledge on the foundation, principles, techniques, and figures of the dance.

ii.             To understand the principles and application of connection, lead and follow.

iii.            To appreciate the openness of the Argentine Tango Vals to Changes of Rhythm, Musicality, and Improvisation.

iv.           To acquire the skills and figures needed to dance the Bronze Level of the Tango Vals.

v.            To build a strong understanding of the foundation of the basics movements, the biomechanics of lead and follow, and the principles of connection..

vi.           To enjoy dancing the foundation movement and Bronze Figures of the Tango Vals in an improvisational way.

vii.          To be able to equip teachers with enough knowledge and confidence to teach the Tango Vals to their students and be able to get them doing medal exams in this dance.

A.            Posture. Foot position. Spinal Alignment

B.            Basic Movements. Weight Change. Walks/Steps (Forward, Backward, Side)

C.            Beats and Bars, Rhythmic Expressions, and Phrasing.

D.            Basic Steps. Switch Step. Follower’s Cross. Corte. Rebound Steps

E.            Forward/Backward Ochos. Right/Left Molinete. Walking Turn

F.            Basic Adornments and its applications

G.           Partner Hold. Connection. Mechanics of Lead and follow

H.            How to amalgamate figures into combinations.

2.            ARGENTINE TANGO SALON SILVER LEVEL OVERVIEW

This 3hr teacher’s workshop is aimed at developing the various individual and partner skills to dance the various progressions of the figures of the Argentine Tango Salon. It will give the participants enough knowledge and skill set to be able to  teach the dance at Silver level. This workshop is suitable for teacher training for the  Licentiate level in Argentine Tango.

Objective

i.              To acquire knowledge on the individual and partner skills needed to dance the basic figures in a more progressive way.

ii.             To understand the mechanics behind changes in connection, lead and follow to dance the silver level figures.

iii.            To appreciate the openness of the Argentine Tango Salon to changes of rhythm, musicality, and improvisation..

iv.           To acquire the skills and understanding needed to put adornments in dancing the figures.

v.            To enjoy dancing the Silver Level figures of the Argentine Tango Salon in a progressive and improvisational way.

vi.           To be able to equip teachers with enough knowledge and confidence to teach the silver level of the Argentine Tango Salon to their students and be able to get them doing medal exams in this dance.

D.            Application of Adornos to basic figures.

E.            Progression figures from Forward/Backward Ochos, Right/Left Molinete, Revound Steps and Walking Turn.

F.            Learn other figures, like: Parada, Pasada, Sacada, Barrida, Media Vuelta, Media Luna
